How do I disable Network Card Power Saving?

Overview

Modern computers utilize power saving features to reduce energy use. This causes issues with network connected devices. We recommend disabling these power saving features. 

Requirements

  1. Local Administrator Rights

Disable Power Saving Options on Network Adapter

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Expand Network adapters
  3. Double-click the active network adapter to open its properties
  4. This may need to be applied to multiple cards if a given PC is communicating over multiple discrete network segments
  5. Go to Power Management tab
  6. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
  7. Click OK
  8. Close Device Manager
