How to Add a FTP Server as a Windows Network Location
Overview
An FTP Server can be added to Windows as a Network Location. This allows quick access to the FTP Server. There is no limit to how many FTP network locations can be added to Windows. This article is for Windows 10 or newer operating systems, however, the steps are very similar for older operating systems.
Requirements
- FTP Server IP Address
Adding Network Location
- Open File Explorer
You can access File Explorer by right-clicking the Windows start menu and selecting File Explorer or you can search for "File Explorer" from the Windows start menu- In the left panel, look for "This PC", right-click it and click Add a network location

- Once the wizard appears, click Next
- Click Choose a custom network location, click Next

- In the Internet or network address field, enter the FTP server address
- e.g. ftp://192.168.1.100

- On the next page, you can leave it as default to log in anonymously (most common) or uncheck to enter a username and password for the FTP server.

- On the next page, you can give the FTP server a name, we suggest the CNC machine name

- On the last page, you can opt to connect to the server
- Now when you go to This PC, you will find the new FTP server via a network location
