How to Change Default Directories and Extensions in Predator DNC

Overview

Changing directories in Predator DNC is straightforward, however, understanding where to change them is key. Predator DNC has commands, and each one is essentially custom made for each customer, but in general, you will find commands called Send to CNC (PC to CNC), Receive from CNC (CNC to PC), and Start Remote (CNC to PC). While the names of the commands may vary, they should make sense when looking for them. Navigating to the Paths configuration page will not only allow changing the directory, but you can also change the default extension(s), backup directory, backup extension, and number of backup files. 

Requirements

  1. Access to Predator DNC v11 Administrator
  2. Read/Write to desired directory
  3. UNC Paths required for file shares

Opening Predator DNC

  1. If Predator DNC is running as a service, first go to Windows Services and stop Predator DNC Service
  2. Launch Predator DNC v11 Administrator, can be found on the desktop or start menu
  3. Go to Command Cancel All

Changing the Send to CNC Directory

This will change the directory where Predator DNC looks to send the program to the CNC machine. It is often called the download directory.
  1. On the machine in question, expand and look for the Send to CNC command, it should have Send in the name, right click and select Properties...
  2. Press Next > to get to the "Paths" configuration page
  3. Change the Default DirectoryDefault Extension(s)Backup DirectoryBackup Extension, and/or Number of Backup Files
  4. Press Next > until you can click Finish

Changing the Receive from CNC Directory

This will change the directory where Predator DNC saves the program from the CNC machine. It is often called the upload directory.
  1. On the machine in question, expand and look for the Receive from CNC command, it should have Receive in the name, right click and select Properties...
  2. Press Next > to get to the "Paths" configuration page
  3. Change the Default DirectoryDefault Extension(s)Backup DirectoryBackup Extension, and/or Number of Backup Files
  4. Press Next > until you can click Finish

Changing the Remote Mode Directory

This command serves two purposes. It will listen for remote requests from the CNC and will save programs from the CNC machine. This will change the directory where Predator DNC saves the program from the CNC machine. It is often called the remote command and serves as the upload directory. 
  1. On the machine in question, expand and look for the Remote command, it should have Remote in the name, right click and select Properties...
  2. Press Next > to get to the "Paths" configuration page
  3. Change the Default DirectoryDefault Extension(s)Backup DirectoryBackup Extension, and/or Number of Backup Files
  4. Press Next > until you can click Finish

Saving Changes and Starting Predator DNC

  1. After repeating for each machine, go to File > Save
  2. Start Predator DNC
    1. If Predator DNC runs as an application, go to Command > Startup All
    2. If Predator DNC runs as a service, close the application, go to Windows Services and start Predator DNC Service
