How to change DMG Mori Seiki MAPPS DNC mode from RS-232 to Internal Card

Overview

Mori Seiki controls can come with "Internal Card" which is similar to a Fanuc Data Server, and may even be found on the same machine as a Data Server, but is a separate memory space from the rest of the machine, including Data Server or Main Memory.

The Internal Card is accessible by Windows and is drip-fed from when the machine is in "TAPE," "DNC," or "REMOTE" mode.

Change DNC Mode

Pressing Tape/DNC/Remote will normally display the program list of the Main Memory when set to drip-feed via RS-232. To display the program list of the Internal Card, change the following setting.
  1. Press SETTING or SET button
  2. Press OPE. PANEL softkey
  3. Press OPE. MODE softkey
  4. Using the arrow keys, change from "TAPE (RS232C)" to "MAPPS-DNC"
  5. Press the EXIT softkey

Pressing PROG in Tape/DNC/Remote mode will now display the list of programs in the Internal Card and they may be ran from there. You may also dripfeed programs from USB flash memory once this setting has been changed.
