How to Configure Siemens 840D sl Network Settings

Overview

This article will review how to configure the Siemens 840D sl (Solution Line) network settings. This is also referred to as the Siemens 840D with Operate.

Requirements

  1. Network Drop
  2. Manufacturer Password
    3. SFA Technical Support can provide this to customers with an active account or a support contract

Plug in Network Cable

  1. Typically located in the rear cabinet, locate the X130 port and plug in your Ethernet cable

Set Manufacturer Password

  1. Press MENU SELECT button
  2. Press Setup
  3. Press Pass-word
  4. Press Set password
  5. Type in the manufacturer password
  6. Press INPUT button
Choose either Method 1 or Method 2 based on what buttons and menus options you see

Set Network Settings (Method 1)

  1. Press MENU SELECT button
  2. Press Setup
  3. Press >
  4. Press Net-work
  5. Press Overview
  6. Press Change
    7. Do not change System network, this will break your machine.
  7. Under Company Network, change IP address and Subnet mask
  8. Press OK when done
  9. Reboot control

Set Network Settings (Method 2)

  1. Press MENU SELECT button
  2. Press Diag-nostics
  3. Press >
  4. Press Bus TCP/IP
  5. Press TCP/IP diagnost.
  6. Press TCP/IP config.
  7. Press Change
    8. Do not change System Network (X120), this will break your machine.
  8. Under NCU Company Network (X130 port), change IP address and Subnet mask
    9. If there is no NCU, PCU can be used instead
  9. Press OK when done
  10. Reboot control
