How to Create a Predator MDC Slide Show
Overview
Predator MDC has a slide show (aka automation) feature to present real time data for digital signage. Any chart or view can be added to a slide show.
Requirements
- Local Administrator Rights
- Predator MDC Client License (can substitute with Administrator license)
- Add to Automation Permission
- Chart Permission
- View Permission
- Slide Show Permission
Preparation
- Create a user called "slideshow" with Slide Show, Chart, and View permissions (instructions)
- Install Predator MDC with Client license on computer running the slide show (instructions)
Creating the Automation File
- Create a chart or open a view of your choice
- From a chart, right click on the chart then click Add to Automation... or from a view, go to File > Add to Automation...
- Give this slide an optional Title
- Choose a location to save the Automation File and give it a name
- Recommend "C:\Predator Software\Support\slideshow.txt"
- Set a Time delay (seconds) of your choice for this slide, this is how long the slide will be shown
- Optionally change the Header Font Size and Legend Font Size
- Click OK when done
- Repeats steps 1-7 to add additional slides while using the same Automation File
Create the Slide Show Shortcut
- From the computer running the slide show, go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Predator Software\MDC 11.0"
- For 32-bit systems, go to "C:\Program Files\Predator Software\MDC 11.0"
- Right click "PMDC.exe" and go to Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
- Go to the desktop and right click "PMDC.exe - Shortcut", click Properties
- Add "-slideshow "[slideshow.txt path]" -user slideshow -password slideshow" as an arguments to the end of the Target
- e.g. -slideshow "c:\predator software\support\slideshow.txt" -user slideshow -password slideshow
- Click OK
- Rename the shortcut "Slide Show"
- Launch the Slide Show by running the newly created shortcut
Add the Slide Show shortcut to the computers startup folder to automate the slide show upon boot up.
