How to Find to Which Computer is Connected to NPort Unit

Overview

Moxa NPort devices can be connected to more than one PC. If Predator DNC is reporting Access Denied, its possbile the connection to the NPort is in use by another computer. There is a way to check this in the hardware. 

Requirements

  1. IP Address of Moxa NPort Unit

Check Serial to Network Connections on W2150A/W2250A

  1. Log into the web console of the NPort unit using its IP address
  2. Go to System Monitoring > Serial to Network Connections
    1. You will find a row for each port followed by brackets
    2. If all brackets are blank, no computer is connected
    3. If a bracket is populated with an IP address, that IP address is the computer currently connected to the NPort unit

Check Serial to Network Connections on 5110/5210A

  1. Log into the web console of the NPort unit using its IP address
  2. Go to Monitor > Line
    1. You will find a row for each port followed by brackets
    2. If all brackets are blank, no computer is connected
    3. If a bracket is populated with an IP address, that IP address is the computer currently connected to the NPort unit
