How to Format a USB Flash Drive for Floppy Connect 2.0

Overview

The Floppy Connect 2.0 utilizes a special format on the USB flash drive that is created by the unit itself. This article will explain how this is done. 

Requirements

  1. USB flash drive that is 32GB or less; SFA recommends 8 or 16GB drives.

Formatting USB Flash Drive

  1. Insert the USB flash drive into the Floppy Connect 2.0
  2. Press and hold the FORMAT button for more than 5 seconds, until the CARD LED blinks red twice (with a 1-second interval)
  3. When the CARD LED turns solid red, release the FORMAT button
  4. The USB flash drive will be formatted to FAT12
  5. Once the formatting is complete, the CARD LED will remain solid green, and the R/W LED will be off
