How to Install and Configure the Scytec DataXchange Service

Overview

This article will install and configure the Scytec DataXchange (DX) Service. 

Requirements

  1. Local Administrator Rights
  2. Scytec DataXchange Service (link)
  3. DataXchange Account Number
  4. DataXchange Account Password
Info
The Account Number and Password can be obtained from your Account Executive or a SFA technician.

DataXchange Service Minimum Requirements

  1. Desktop OS: Windows 11 with latest Windows updates
  2. Server OS: Windows Server 2019 or greater with latest Windows updates
  3. Can be a physical or virtual machine 
  4. 2 GHz Core i5 or Xeon Processor released within the last 3 years
  5. 1 GB of available disk space
  6. 8 GB RAM (16 GB minimum when shared with other business applications)
  7. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or greater
  8. Local Administrator Rights

Install and Configure the Scytec DX Service

  1. Extract the files, then run setupDXService.exe
  2. Click Options
  3. Fill out Account Number and Account Password
  4. Check the box to agree to the license terms and conditions
  5. Click OK
  6. Click Install

Restart the Scytec DX PCS Service

  1. Open Windows Services
  2. Locate and restart "Scytec DataXchange PCS Service"

Troubleshooting

If the installation fails or locks up, try one of the following:
  1. Try again, but under options uncheck "Start Services", then once its installed, manually start the service
  2. Check if HTTP Port 80 is being used by something else on the PC such as a web server
    1. Either remove the conflict or change the HTTP Port to something else such as 81
