How to Install Predator Secure DNC on a Windows-Based CNC Machine

Overview

This article goes over how to install Predator Secure DNC on your Windows-based CNC machine. 

Requirements

  1. USB Flash Drive
  2. psdnc.exe (located in C:\Predator Software\Secure DNC\)
  3. Predator Windows Utility (link)

Install of Predator Secure DNC

  1. Load PredatorWindowsUtility.exe onto the USB Flash Drive
  2. Create a folder called “Predator”
  3. Copy psdnc.exe into the folder
  4. Plug in the USB Flash Drive into the CNC machine
  5. Copy “Predator” Folder to C: Drive
  6. Run PredatorWindowsUtilty.exe
  7. Click Startup tab
  8. Click Create Shortcut (bottom icon)
  9. For Shortcut Name, type "Predator Secure DNC"
  10. For Program, click the Browse (far right in field) and go to "C:\Predator\psdnc.exe"
  11. For Arguments, type "-i machine_IP"
    1. machine_IP = IP address of the CNC machine
      1. e.g. -i 192.168.0.100"
  12. Click OK
  13. Restart the CNC machine

Alternative - Install Predator Secure DNC on CNC

  1. On the USB flash drive, create a folder called "Predator"
  2. Place a copy of psdnc.exe into the Predator folder
  3. Take the USB flash drive and plug it into the CNC machine
  4. From the Windows side of the control, open the USB flash drive and copy the Predator folder
  5. Paste the Predator folder onto the C drive of the CNC machine
    6. InfoAlternative drive letters may be used as long as they are permanent drives
  6. In the Predator folder, create a shortcut of psdnc.exe
  7. Edit the shortcuts properties and add the following arguments to the Target
    1. -i machine_IP
      2. Infomachine_IP is the IP address of the CNC machine

  8. Move the shortcut to the Windows startup folder, this can be accessed via File Explorer and typing in "shell:common startup" and pressing enter
  9. Double-click the shortcut to run Secure DNC
  10. Return to the original Predator folder and if successful, a log file should have appeared
