How to Monitor Serial RS232 Activity on NPort Hardware

Overview

Moxa NPorts have the ability to show TX and RX traffic using the web console. 

Requirements

  1. IP Address of Moxa NPort Unit

Check Serial Traffic on W2150A/W2250A

  1. Log into the web console of the NPort unit using its IP address
  2. Go to System Monitoring > Serial Port Status
  3. You will find a row for each port
  4. Ensure Auto Refresh is checked to get the latest values

Check Serial Traffic on 5110/5210A

  1. Log into the web console of the NPort unit using its IP address
  2. Go to Monitor > Async
  3. You will find a row for each port
  4. You will need to refresh the page to get the latest value

Definitions

  1. TxCnt: number of Tx packets (to device) for the current connection
  2. RxCnt: number of Rx packets (from device) for the current connection
  3. TxTotalCnt: number of Tx packets since the NPort was powered on
  4. RxTotalCnt: number of Rx packets since the NPort was powered on
