The Windows ping utility is a useful tool to troubleshoot network connectivity issues. It is included on every Windows operating system. 

Requirements

Access to Command Prompt

Initiating a Ping

  1. Open a Command Prompt
    1. Win + R
    2. Type cmd and press Enter key
  2. Type ping ipaddress
    1. Example: ping 172.20.0.254
  3. Press Enter key
  4. Reply

  5. No reply
