How to Program USB Wi-Fi Connect

How to Program USB Wi-Fi Connect

Overview

The USB Wi-Fi Connect enables the loading of CNC programs onto a USB flash drive via a wireless network. This article provides a guide on programming the device for connection to your wireless network.

Requirements

  1. Ability to Make a New Wi-Fi Network or change SSID and Security Key
  2. Existing Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and Security Key (password)
  3. 2.4GHz wireless network (801.11b/g/n)

Program the USB Wi-Fi Connect

  1. Set up a 2.4GHz wireless network, name it “stackit_install,” use WPA2-PSK (AES) for the security type, and set “stackit_install” as the security key
  2. This can be done using phone hotspot, or the GL-iNet portable wireless router
  3. Plug in USB Wi-Fi Connect device to PC
  4. USB device will show up temporarily at first; do not open, but rather, allow it to reboot itself
  5. If prompted, please be sure to NOT run a “repair” operation on the drive; this will corrupt it
  6. Once the device shows up a second time, open the drive and check the contents of “ip.txt”
  7. Connect your PC to the wireless network “stackit_install”
  8. Enter the IP address from “ip.txt” into a browser, e.g. http://192.168.1.100
  9. Fill out Client name/company, Installation country, and Installation city, then select a machine Controller type, enter the Machine type or name, then press CONTINUE

  10. Enter your SSID under Network name and Security key under Network password, then press CONTINUE

  11. Enter "ei2af62m" exactly as shown into the Maintenance key field, then press SUBMIT
  12. Wait one minute for the device to reboot
  13. Device has now been set up on the network and is accessible by its UNC path, e.g. \\192.168.1.100\
