How to Set Okuma RS-232 Parameters - 5000M-G, 5020M, 700M, 7000M

Notate or take a picture of any parameters before you change them

Change Okuma Parameters

  1. Ensure the NC PANEL key is set to "UNLOCK"
  2. Press PARAMETER button
  3. Press ITEM DOWN (F7) softkey until you get to "NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (WORD)"
  4. Change the following parameters
  5. PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys to navigate between "NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (WORD)" pages
    To change the parameter, highlight the value, press SET, type in new value, then press WRITE button
    1. #1 = 1 (Feed Holes)
    2. #6 = 4800 (Baud Rate)
    3. #34 = 30 (Busy Time)
    4. #45 = 0 (Punch Port)
    5. #57 = 1 (Read Port)
  6. Press ITEM DOWN (F7) softkey until you get to "NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (BIT)"
  7. Change the following parameters
  8. PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys to navigate between "NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (WORD)" pages
    To change the parameter, highlight the bit, press SET, type in new bit, then press WRITE button
    1. #1 = 00011011
    2. #8 = 10101011
  9. Reboot control

Alternative Parameters

The following set of parameters have been known to work. Try these if the above parameters do not work.

    1. NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (BIT)
      1. #1 = 00000000
      2. #8 = 10101010
  2. Alternative 2
      1. NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (BIT)
        1. #1 = 01011011
        2. #8 = 10100010
    1. Alternative 3
        1. NC OPTIONAL PARAMETER (BIT)
          1. #1 = 00001011
          2. #8 = 10101010

      PC Settings

      1. Baud Rate = 4800
      2. Data Bits = 7
      3. Parity = Even
      4. Stop Bits = 1
      5. Flow Control = Xon/Xoff

      Troubleshooting

      1. Parameter changes are not retained after reboot
        1. Wait about 5 minutes after changing the last parameter
        2. Power off NC
        3. Wait about 2 minutes
        4. Power on NC and verify changes stuck
