Siemens 840D RS-232 Parameters

Controls

  1. Any Siemens SINUMERIK 840D w/ RS-232
Notate or take a picture of any parameters before you change them

Set Parameters

  1. Press MENU SELECT button
  2. Press Services softkey
  3. Press Interface softkey
  4. Press RS232C softkey (on the right) to get to the "Interface: V24 (RS232)" page
  5. Set "Interface" to "COM1" or "COM2" to match the COM Port you're using
  6. Set "Protocol to "Xon/Xoff"
    1. Check "Send XON at Start Data on"
    2. Check "Stop with EOT character"
    3. Set "End of transmis. (hex)" to "03"
  7. Set "Parity" to "None"
  8. Set "Stop bits" to "1"
  9. Set "Data bits" to "8 bit"
  10. Set "Baud rate" to "9600" (feel free to select another speed)
  11. Set "Arch. format" to "Punch tape only with LF"
  12. Set "Timeout (sec)" to "30" 
  13. Press OK softkey (on the right)
Your PC settings will be 7 data bits, even parity, and 2 stop bits
