What do the Moxa W2150A, W2250A, W2150A-W4, & W2250A-W4 LEDs Mean?

Overview

This guide will go over what the LED means on your device and what to do if there are problems. 

Ready LED Indicator (Boot Status)

  1. Steady Green - Functioning normally
  2. Blinking Green - Responding to locate function
  3. Off - No power. Make sure adequate power is being supplied, 12 to 48vdc is supported. Try another power outlet, try another power adapter. If it still not working please contact Shop Floor Automations.
  4. Blinking between Green & Red - Device is attempting to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server. 
  5. Steady Red (brief, <20 seconds) - Device is booting up.
  6. Steady Red (sustained, >20 seconds) - Boot up failed, try rebooting unit. If this persists, contact Shop Floor Automations.
  7. Blinking Red - IP conflict or DHCP server did not respond properly. Try to reboot the unit. If this persists, confirm the IP address is not in use or the DHCP server is functioning properly please contact Shop Floor Automations

Serial 1 or Serial 2 LED Indicator (Serial Port Activity)

  1. Green - Serial port is transmitting data

  2. Orange - Serial port is receiving data
  3. Solution: No problem with unit

  4. Off - No data is being transmitted or received

WLAN LED Indicator

  1. Steady Green - Connected to a Wi-Fi network

  2. Blinking Green - Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi Network. Check Wi-Fi network settings by connecting to the unit with a Ethernet cable. If using MAC filtering, confirm the WLAN MAC address is correct. If this persists, please contact Shop Floor Automations.

Signal Strength LED Indicators

  1. 5 Green LEDs - the signal strength is between 80%~100%
  2. 4 Green LEDs - the signal strength is between 60%~80%
  3. 3 Green LEDs - the signal strength is between 40%~60%
  4. 2 Red LEDs - the signal strength is between 20% ~ 40%. This will have some affect on communications. Confirm line of sight and antenna is firmly screwed in. Move the access point closer or add more. 
  5. 1 Red LED - the signal strength is between 0% ~ 20%. This will have a major affect on communications. Confirm line of sight and antenna is firmly screwed in. Move the access point closer or add more.
