Why am I getting a "login attempt failed..." error when logging into Scytec DataXchange?
Problem
When launching the Scytec DataXchange desktop application for the first time and after confirming all credentials are correct, the following error message appears; "The login attempt failed due to invalid account credentials".
Reason
In most cases the Scytec DataXchange desktop application was unintentionally downloaded from the wrong site. This is common for accounts that are older than 2023.
Solution
- Uninstall Scytec DataXchange
- Download a new setup.exe from https://dx1.scytec.com/setup.exe
- Run setup.exe to reinstall DataXchange
- When presented with the Account Settings page (or go to the Account Setting page if not), press Clear Settings
- Re-enter the Account Number and Account Password, then your User Name and Password
