Default Dip Switch Settings

The settings of the Floppy Connect Emulator are controlled by DIP switches located on the top of the unit in a narrow slot.

  1. IBM Models (sold before April 2024) 1, 2, 7, 8 are ON and 3, 4, 5, 6 are OFF
  2. Universal Models (sold after April 2024) 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 are ON and 1, 5, 6 are OFF

Troubleshooting

  1. When saving a file to the Floppy Connect Emulator, nothing loads onto the USB flash drive.
    1. Some very old Haas CNCs require pressing the RESET button on the Floppy Connect Emulator before unplugging the USB flash drive. You must wait for both green and red LEDs to be off before unplugging the USB flash drive.
  2. The Floppy Connect Emulator is not working at all.
    1. Check if the green LED is constantly on. This usually indicates the ribbon cable is backwards. Power down the CNC machine, rotate the ribbon cable, then try again.
    2. Ensure the USB flash drive is 2GB or less and formatted as FAT or FAT16.

    3. Confirm the DIP switch settings are set correctly.
  3. Unable to see or load a program and all other functions appear to be working.
    1. The floppy file size limit still applies to the USB flash drive. Ensure the file is no larger than 1.44MB.
