How to Back Up and Restore Moxa NPort Drivers

Overview

When moving your software to a new PC/Server, you must migrate the device drivers as well. This guide will assist with backing up and restoring Moxa NPort drivers. 

Requirements

  1. Local Administrator Rights
  2. Access to both old and new computers

Install Moxa NPort Windows Driver Manager

  1. Follow How to Install Moxa NPort Drivers, but do not install the drivers just yet

Back up Moxa NPort Drivers

  1. On old computer, open Moxa NPort Windows Driver Manager
  2. Go to COM Mapping > Export

  3. Choose a save location and name the .ini file "NPort Drivers"
  4. Click OK

  5. Upon success, a Window will appear, click OK

  6. Close Moxa NPort Windows Driver Manager
  7. Copy "NPort Drivers.ini" to new computer

Restore Moxa NPort Drivers

  1. On new computer, open Moxa NPort Windows Driver Manager
  2. Go to COM Mapping > Import

  3. Navigate to and open "NPort Drivers.ini"
  4. Click OK

  5. Upon success, a Window will appear, click OK

  6. Validate everything is accurate, Click Apply

  7. Click Yes
  8. Upon success, a Window will appear, click OK

  9. Close Moxa NPort Windows Driver Manager
