How to Install Predator MDC v11

Overview

In order to utilize all the features of Predator MDC, a client must be used. Predator MDC includes three licenses, Administrator, Client, and Shop Floor, all of which act as a client. Enterprise versions of each license are also available.
  1. Predator MDC Administrator - User management, data deletion, & import which typically resides the server or the primary admins PC
  2. Predator MDC Client - The most common, provides reports, charts, view, and data management 
  3. Predator Shop Floor - Provides dashboard views and data entry

Requirements

  1. Local Administrator Rights
  2. Microsoft .NET 3.5 Framework (How to Enable .NET Framework 3.5)
  3. Predator MDC Software (link)
  4. Predator MDC License
  5. Database Information
  6. Predator MDC User Account

Installation

  1. Extract files and run SetupMDC.exe to start the installation wizard
  2. On the initial screen, click Next
  3. Uncheck Predator MDC Service v11
  4. Click Next

  5. Continue through the wizard until you get to Sentinel Protection Installer, Windows Firewall detected! page
  6. Click Yes

  7. Complete the installation wizard using all defaults

Licensing

  1. From the desktop, locate the Predator MDC v11 shortcut
  2. While holding the Shift key, right click the Predator MDC v11 shortcut and click Run as administrator
  3. Upon success, the Registration Information screen will appear
  4. Choose from one of the following licensing methods
    1. Floating License Manager (FLM) - Most Common
      1. Fill out Name and Company
      2. Copy and paste Serial Number and Access Code into applicable fields
      3. Set License Type set to "Floating License Manager"
      4. Enter FLM server hostname or IP in Server field
      5. Enter FLM port number in Port field
      6. Click OK when done

    2. USB
      1. Fill out Name and Company
      2. Copy and paste Serial Number and Access Code into applicable fields
      3. Set License Type set to "Unknown"
      4. Click OK when done

Logon and Database Information

  1. If you see the Logon screen, you can skip to step 4
  2. From the desktop, locate the Predator MDC v11 shortcut
  3. While holding the Shift key, right click the Predator MDC v11 shortcut and click Run as administrator
  4. On the Database tab, select PC radio button
  5. Fill in the following fields
    1. User Name = SQL Authenticated Username
    2. Password = SQL Authenticated Password
    3. Server = SQL Server Hostname or IP
    4. Database = SQL Database name, selected from dropdown
  6. Check Save Database Logon
  7. Click Connect

  8. Click the User tab
  9. Enter your Predator MDC User Name
  10. Enter your Predator MDC Password
  11. Optionally, check Remember Password to automatically logon in the future
  12. Click OK when done

If the Database appears to be locking up, wait 1-5 minutes for it to give control back, then recheck your SQL credentials as well as the server name. If you use SQL Server Express, an instance name may be necessary, e.g. 192.168.1.100\sqlexpress.
