How to Quickly Troubleshoot Predator DNC

Overview

This article is designed to help you quickly get Predator DNC up and running. 

Requirements

  1. IP Address of the Hardware or CNC Machine
  2. Access to the Predator DNC Computer
  3. Local Administrator Rights
Not everyone will need Local Administrator Rights, however, most steps require some level of administrator rights

Check Hardware or CNC Machine Network Connectivity

Most CNC machines are connected to the network in some fashion, either directly or with Serial to Ethernet converters. If you do not know the IP address, proceed to the next section to Restart Predator DNC.
  1. Ping the IP address to ensure connectivity (How to Ping)
  2. If no connectivity, try to reboot the hardware or machine and try again
  3. If connectivity, try to reboot anyway, but try Restarting Predator DNC

Restart Predator DNC

It is important to know if Predator DNC is running as a desktop application or service. In most cases, when you're on the Predator DNC computer and you see Predator DNC running, its a desktop application. If not, there is a good chance it's running as a service. Review How to Determine if Predator DNC is Running as a Windows Service for more assistance. 

Restart the Predator DNC Desktop Application

This applies when Predator DNC is running as a desktop application
  1. In the Predator DNC application, go to Command > Cancel All

  2. Wait until all machines are stopped (no keypads or arrows next to all machine)
  3. Go to File > Exit
  4. Wait 30 seconds, then launch Predator DNC and try again

Restart the Predator DNC Service

This applies when Predator DNC is running as a Windows service
  1. In the Windows start menu, search for "Services.MSC"
  2. Open "Services"

  3. Look for Predator DNC Service and right-click it
  4. Click Restart

  5. Try again

Restart the Predator DNC Computer

  1. When all else fails, restart the Predator DNC computer
  2. Try again
