Troubleshooting SRC Hardware
Problem
- Machine is running, but not collecting any data or stuck in the same status
Reason
- The most common reason is due to the DataXchange Service not being able to communicate with the SRC
Solutions
- Basic
- Ping the Moxa device to confirm connectivity (best done from the DataXchange Service computer)
- If no response, troubleshoot the network connection by checking physical connections such as loose cables, confirm there is a link light, correct VLAN configuration, etc. If you're still having trouble, consult with your IT team
- Confirm no firewall rules are in place blocking TCP ports 4001 and 4002
- Confirm the Equipment is configured and running in the DataXchange application
- Confirm the Moxa device was configured for TCP Server mode
- Advanced
- Both the SRC and Moxa device have serial activity lights that are extremely helpful for troubleshooting
- SRC has a TX2 and RX2 serial activity light
- Moxa NPort 5110 has a Tx/Rx serial activity light
- Moxa NPort W2150A, W2250A, or 5250A have Serial 1 activity light for Port 1 and Serial 2 activity for Port 2
- Normal connectivity is seen with the Moxa serial activity light flashing green, then flashing orange shortly after, this repeats every 5 - 10 seconds, the SRC presents the same except TX2 flashing green, the RX2 flashing green shortly after
- You do not see the Moxa serial activity lights flashing any color; the hardware and/or software configuration needs to be checked, contact SFA Technical Support
- You see the Moxa serial activity lights flashing, but no response; confirm the serial cable is plugged into Port 2 on the SRC, confirm the serial cable is plugged into the correct port on the Moxa device (should match based on the serial activity light you see flashing); its possible the cable is bad
- You see the Moxa serial activity lights flashing, but no response AND the SRC TX2 serial activity light flashing, but no SRC RX2 response; unplug the SRC, wait 5 seconds and plug back in, check all of the above once more
- You see the Moxa serial activity lights flashing, but no response AND the SRC TX2 serial activity light flashing AND the SRC RX2 serial activity lights flashing; its possible the cable is bad
