How to configure Folder Watch in pWidgets

Overview

pWidgets Folder Watch is a feature that allows pWidgets to monitor a folder, then take action when a file is placed in said folder. This is useful when working with network-based machines and wanting to do remote request with Predator DNC. 

Requirements

  1. pWidgets Installed and Initially Configured
  2. Basic Knowledge of pWidgets
  3. Path of folder to use Folder Watch
  4. Permissions to folder to use Folder Watch

How to Configure Folder Watch

  1. After a machine is added to pWidgets and assigned a DNC license, go to the Sources tab for the machine
  2. Select Folder Watch 1, then check the Folder Watch 1 check box
  3. InfoIf wanting to monitor a second folder, you can also configure Folder Watch 2
  4. Fill in the path of the folder to be monitored
  5. InfoThe path cannot have any files in it when selected
    InfoThis can be a local directory like a folder on the C drive or a network shared folder such as a CNC machine or file server
  6. Leave "Watch Options" alone, we will use the default settings for now
  7. Leave "File Extension Filtering" alone, we will use the default settings for now
  8. If Folder Watch is a network shared folder and requires authentication, supply the network credentials in the Username and Password fields.
  9. In Targets for Folder Watch 1 section, select either TCP Client 1, TCP Client 2, Folder Move 1, or Folder Move 2; then configure the applicable target.
