How to Program Moxa AWK-1137C

Overview

This article will go through the steps to program a Moxa AWK-1137C unit. 

Requirements

  1. PC with available Ethernet port
  2. Ethernet Cable
  3. 12-48vdc Power Supply (12vdc included)
  4. Static IP Address, Subnet Mask (Netmask), & Gateway
  5. SSID
  6. Wi-Fi Security Information

Connect to Moxa AWK-1137C 

  1. Download and install Wireless Search Utility
  2. Set your Ethernet port IP address to 192.168.127.200
  3. Plug in Ethernet cable between your PC Ethernet port and LAN1 on the Moxa device
  4. Power up the Moxa AWK-1137C
  5. Launch Wireless Search Utility
  6. Select Device Search Only
  7. Click OK

  8. Click Search and wait for it to complete
  9. Verify the MAC address matches the white label on the back of the unit
  10. Double click the device in Wireless Search Utility to open in web browser

  11. Type "admin" in Username field
  12. Type "moxa" in Password field
  13. Click Login

Enable Client-Router Mode (Bridge Mode)

  1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > Operation Mode
  2. Set Wireless to "Enable"
  3. Set Operation mode to "Client-Router"
  4. Click Submit

Configure Network Settings

  1. Go to General Setup > Network Settings
  2. Set IP address assignment to "Static"
  3. Enter your IP address in IP address field
  4. Enter your Subnet mask in Subnet mask field
  5. Enter your Gateway in Gateway field
  6. Click Submit

Configure WLAN Settings

  1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN > Basic WLAN Setup
  2. Set RF Type to "B/G/N Mixed"
  3. Enter you SSID in SSID field
    1. Optional, use Site Survey to find your SSID
  4. Click Submit

Configure Security Settings

Choose either WPA2 (most common), WPA, WEP or Open from below
  1. WPA2 Security Protocol (most common)
    1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN WLAN Security Settings
    2. Set Security mode to "WPA2"
    3. Set WPA type to "Personal"
    4. Type your encryption password in Passphrase field to match your Wi-Fi security settings
    5. Click Submit

  2. WPA Security Protocol
    1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN WLAN Security Settings
    2. Set Security mode to "WPA"
    3. Set WPA type to "Personal"
    4. Type your encryption password in Passphrase field to match your Wi-Fi security settings
    5. Click Submit
  3. WEP Security Protocol
    1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN WLAN Security Settings
    2. Set Security mode to "WEP"
    3. Set Authentication type to "Shared" or "Open" to match your Wi-Fi security settings
    4. Set Key type to "HEX" or "ASCII" to match your Wi-Fi security settings
    5. Set Key length to "64 Bits" or "128 Bits" to match your Wi-Fi security settings
    6. Type your encryption password in WEP key 1 field to match your Wi-Fi security settings, add additional WEP keys as required
    7. Click Submit
  4. Open Security Protocol
    1. Go to Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN WLAN Security Settings
    2. Set Security mode to "OPEN"
    3. Click Submit

Finalize Configuration

  1. Go to Restart
  2. Click Save and Restart

  3. Unplug Ethernet cable
  4. Upon successful connection to your Wi-Fi network, the SYS LED will be solid green WLAN LED will be solid/flashing orange, this can take up to 60 seconds
  5. To confirm connectivity, ping IP address from computer designated to host software
The wireless client, aka bridged device, will have its own IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. The settings referred in the Moxa NPort device are only for the Moxa NPort device.
