How to Configure Idle Timeout in Predator MDC

This requires the use of the New Events Touch interface
Idle timeout will trigger a prompt in the Predator MDC New Events Touch interface after a set amount of time in idle. After a second timeout value, Predator MDC can automatically start a downtime. 

Requirements

Local Administrator Rights
Access to computer hosting Predator MDC Database Service
Predator MDC v11.0.315 or newer
New Events Touch Interface

Definitions

Force Idle to Downtime Dialog - This checkbox option will automatically display the Machine Downtime Start dialog within the New Events Touch dialog when the selected machine is idle for more than the specified Idle Timeout. Predator MDC will automatically prompt the machine operator to select an appropriate machine downtime.

Idle Timeout - Enter an idle timeout value. This value indicates how long each machine within Predator MDC will remain in an idle status prior to forcing a machine operator to specify an appropriate machine downtime. This timeout is ignored when the above option is unchecked. The default value is 15 minutes. Which means that when a machine is idle for more than 15 minutes. Predator MDC will automatically prompt the machine operator for a Machine Downtime within the New Events Touch dialog.
Automatic Idle to Downtime - This checkbox option will automatically select a pre-defined machine downtime and close the Machine Downtime Start dialog within the New Events Touch dialog when the machine operator is not able to specify a machine downtime after the Response Timeout has been reached. The most common reason for this is that there is no operator physically present to specify a machine downtime. Predator Software recommends creating a No Operator downtime and selecting it in the following option.

Response Timeout - Enter a response timeout value. This value indicates how long the machine operator has to specify a downtime before Predator MDC will automatically assign the specified machine downtime. This timeout is ignored when the above option is unchecked. The default value is 5 minutes.

Downtime - Select a machine downtime. This downtime is automatically assigned to the machine when the machine operator fails to do so within the Response Timeout value. The most common machine downtime for this situation is a No Operator downtime.

Enable Idle Timeout

  1. Log into the computer hosting the Predator MDC Database Service with a local administrator account
  2. Launch Predator MDC Service Manager v11
  3. Click Next until you get to the Select Options screen
  4. Check Force Idle to Downtime Dialog
  5. Set Idle Timeout to desired timeout, 15 minutes recommended starting point

Enable Response Timeout

The following is optional, but recommended
  1. Check Automatic Idle to Downtime
  2. Set Response Timeout to desired timeout, 5 minutes recommended starting point
  3. Select Downtime from list, only unplanned downtimes can be select

Apply Changes

  1. Repeatedly click Next, then click Finish
